2017 Intermediate - Lightning Intermediates Earn Gold in Port Elgin
Submitted By Darren Flacco on Monday, June 05, 2017
The London Lightning Intermediate team travelled to Port Elgin for a tournament June 3 & 4.

The team went 3-0 in round robin play on Saturday, with wins over Palmerston, Keady, and Owen Sound.  That sent the Lightning straight to Sunday's Gold Medal game.

The Gold Medal game opponent proved to be Chepstow.  Chepstow took advantage of some early Lightning errors and built a 7-2 lead.  The Lightning kept chipping away and came to the plate in the bottom of the 7th trailing 9-6.  The Lightning cashed 3 that half inning and sent the game into extra innings.  In the bottom of the 8th the team pushed across the winning run for a 10-9 final; a Gold Medal, and a 4-0 weekend.
