It's A Wrap
Fall is here, and it is sad to say but Lightning Ladies have wrapped up their impressive 2017 seasons.  We started out the season by hosting a very impressive GVLSA Season Opener for both Bantam and Squirt, bringing over 150 players from all over Southwestern Ontario to the Forest City!

We hosted Squirt, Novice, Bantam, Midget and Ladies Intermediates teams.  Squirt was mostly a returning team from the previous season and add a few new players, bringing with them some impressive skills. The girls were a delight to coach and made tremendous advancements in their skills throughout the season. During the year-end GVLSA Championship, Squirts sealed the top seed in B, bringing home some gold hardware. Novice, a completely new team for London Lightning this year; the team came together from feeder softball programs in and around the city. They quickly jelled and had a great season. The team was offered an amazing opportunity to compete in the PWSA Eastern Canadian Championships in Cobourg.  After 4 long days, the ladies ended up finishing 4th in the standings, GREAT JOB Ladies! Bantam’s season, had quite a few accomplishments! Finishing first in the GVLSA Tier 2 Standings, winning Gold in the Waterloo tournament and winning Gold in Provincial Qualifiers! The team had a lot of fun and played tremendously well together! Bantam and Midget had the great opportunity to travel together to Michigan to compete in two college exposure tournaments, it was a great experience having both teams together. Although missing some players due to injuries, Intermediate’s faired well in 2 out of 3 tournaments, bring home Gold in the Port Elgin tourney for the 2nd year in a row and the Ancaster tourney.

London Lightning Fastball would like to thank all the players for their hard work and dedication in making the 2017 season what is was! To all the parents and grandparents for all your hard work in supporting your athletes and to all our sponsors who make our season possible, thank you very much!

2018 is now upon us, teams have been picked, Bingo’s will continue and we look forward to celebrating our “30th Anniversary” of providing opportunities for girls of all ages, in London and the surrounding Southwestern Ontario region, to play competitive fastball at the Tier 1 or Tier II Level with the goal of competing for Provincial and National Championships.

GO Lightning!
