Novice Girls "B" Finalists in Port Perry
Our Lightning Novices traveled to Port Perry this past weekend coming away "B" Finalists.  With not having a game scheduled Friday the girls started what should have been a 3 game Saturday with a strong win over Peterborough 9-4.

While warming up for the second game of the day the heavens opened and drenched the field making it unplayable and postponing the remaining 2 games.

With only one round robin game completed, an early and long Sunday was waiting for the team with 3 games in a row starting at (gulp) 7:15am.   The first game of the day saw a 12-3 win over Springfield followed by wins of 14-2 and 7-3 over Etoiles de la Rive and North Mississauga respectively leaving the Lightning at 4-0 in round robin play.

With a game off to rest and recharge the Lightning were set to face the very strong Durham Lady Mets in the semi-finals.  The girls kept the game within striking distance but were not able to get the offense going in an 8-0 loss.  Lac St. Louis was waiting for the girls in the B Final and like the semi, Lightning stayed close but couldn't find a break with the bats, hitting nearly every ball right at a Lion player.  The final of 9-2 was not indicative of how well the girls played, especially considering it was their 5th game of a near 12-hour day in 30° heat.

Great job as always by the coaches and thanks to everyone for chipping in with shade, food, and drinks for the girls.

The next tournament for Lightning Novices will be the UTM Big Show in Stratford June 15th-17th.
