Lightning Intermediates 2017 Season Comes to an End
The London Lightning Intermediates have wrapped up their 2017 campaign.
The team finished with a very impressive 30-10-2 record for a 0.738 Win Percentage.
The Intermediates competed in four tournaments:
Port Elgin - Gold Medal
Ancaster (Cam Mitchell Memorial) - co-Gold Medal (shared due to Championship Game rainout)
Innerkip (Gord Marshall Memorial) - Playoff Round (knocked out by eventual Champion)
PWSA - Intermediate II Grand Championships, in Jarvis - Playoff Round (knocked out by eventual Champion)
Throughout the year the team competed in the Tri-County League - Junior/Intermediate division, where they earned a 0.778 Win Percentage. To round out the season they competed in the League Year End Tournament, in Byron.
In addition to the games there were several highlights. One of which included hosting the North London Mite Girls Fastball team. The young girls wanted to see the big girls play underneath the lights, see how they handled themselves on and off the field, and witness first hand what their efforts of today can transpire to in the future. The Intermediates did themselves and the London Lightning organization proud. The season drew upon old relationships, with many players having been teammates for years, but there were also new team members who were welcomed and immediately made to feel part of the organization. The true definition of "team".
The Intermediates were guided by Terry Woods and Mark Sloat. Their efforts are very much appreciated by all players as both men provided their knowledge of the game and a personal touch to each players development. It's clear they offer their time for 'the love of the game' and the players gratitude can not go understated.
The Intermediate team would like to say a huge "Thank You" to ALL of our sponsors. We are very grateful for your contribution to the Lightning organization and Women's Fastball, in general. We hope you'll continue your involvement in 2018.
